Privacy Policy

ElectrifyCost is a calculator-first content site. We collect minimal data, never sell personal information, and gate all analytics behind a cookie-consent banner. This page documents what we collect, why, and how to opt out.

What we collect

We collect aggregated, non-personally-identifying usage data through two analytics tools so we can improve the calculators and content:

We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment information. The calculators run entirely in your browser; calculator inputs never reach our servers. We do not maintain user accounts. We do not send marketing email. We do not host comment forms or contact forms.

Consent & cookies

We implement Google’s Consent Mode v2 with a default state of denied for all four storage categories (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage). GA4 will not set tracking cookies until you click Accept on the cookie banner.

Your decision is stored in your browser’s localStorage under the key ec_consent_v1. To change your decision, clear your browser’s storage for this site and reload; the banner will reappear. If you decline, GA4 cookies are never set; only the cookieless Ahrefs measurement remains, and only in aggregate.

Advertising & affiliate links

ElectrifyCost is supported by passive monetization only: display advertising (planned, not yet live) and product affiliate links (planned, not yet live). When ads or affiliates go live, you will see a visible disclosure on every page that contains them. We will never gate calculators behind ads. We will never let affiliate revenue change calculator math, recommendations, or rebate amounts — the methodology at /methodology/ documents the inputs in full.

We do not run lead-generation forms, contractor-referral widgets, or email-capture funnels.

Third parties

Data retention

GA4 retention is set to 14 months (the maximum allowed for the standard property tier). Aggregate Ahrefs reports retain only aggregated, non-identifying metrics. Vercel server logs are retained for the periods documented in their privacy policy. We do not maintain a personal-data database of our own.

Your rights

Under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar U.S. state privacy laws (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others), you have the right to access, correct, delete, or opt out of the sale of your personal data. Because we do not collect personally identifying data, hold no user accounts, and do not sell personal information, there is generally no personal dataset to access, correct, or delete. To withdraw consent for analytics cookies, clear your browser storage for this site or use the cookie banner that reappears on a fresh visit.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not have a financial incentive program tied to personal data collection. We honor browser-level Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where technically feasible.

Children

ElectrifyCost is intended for U.S. homeowners. The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our analytics, advertising, or affiliate posture changes. The “Last reviewed” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent material change. We will not retroactively apply broader data collection without your renewed consent — if our analytics or third-party set changes, the cookie banner will reset and you will be asked to consent again.
